Location wildlife.

There is plenty to see at Watsness around the house, on the cliffs and beach and in the surrounding area. In the spring breeding birds nest in the surrounding fields and cliffs. In the summer the youngsters learn from their parents and can often be seen on the road  and on the meadows. Large numbers of Common Gulls and Curlew breed here. There are also large numbers of migrants passing through with huge flocks of thrushes, plover, skylarks and geese. Whooper swans and wildfowl live and breed on the Loch and we have even had a few rarities - Citrine Wagtail, Quail and Snow Buntings. The hills round the house are home to Red Grouse and the entertaining mountain hares. Arctic terns nest on the beach and Seals give birth in the bays along the cliff edge in the Autumn. All in all its a stunning place to be at any time of year.
